The owner’s request was very simple: to design a boat as fast and sea worthy as possible, with only one fixed data: the length of 33 feet.
There can be no better challenge for a designer than to work with a passionate, well-versed owner who leaves ample room for design and technical-structural solutions. This was the foundation for the new FX 33 project, a ten-meter yacht suitable for both inshore and offshore regattas, to be built in a small series using sophisticated materials, innovative appendage solutions and, of course, with a sleek look. The internal arrangements are minimal while still maintaining volumes able to comfortably accommodate an offshore racing crew for a few days. The project is currently under development and thus exterior design is not yet complete.
The new boat will certainly have foils and truly innovative solutions for the sail plan, however, some points have been set: high performance hull, hydraulic canting keel, double retractable rudders, wheelhouse, large cockpit with benches and handrails, diesel or, alternatively, electric propulsion with retractable propeller. In line with the latest trends toward environmental sustainability, alternative environmentally friendly construction materials will also be considered.
