This performance cruiser is built under the sign of the Salona philosophy to pursue excellent results. Sporty, very clean and elegant hull and deck lines, a cruiser-racer based on ORC / IRC conceived out of the collaboration between Cossutti Yacht Design and Salona Boatyard
The S380 is built in accordance with strict standard rules of the Germanischer Lloyd and Ocean A category. The construction is done considering the same hi-tech techniques derived from Cossutti Studio philosophy and yard tradition, with vacuum infusion laminations and stainless steel frame, to provide maximum performance, comfort and safety at sea.
The real uniqueness of this boat is in the balance between a high performance hull, the functionality of the interior and deck layouts designed for offshore sailing. Novelty for Salona, the stern bathing platform which offers easy access to the sea, increasing the surface area on deck.
On the esthetic side, the new model is distinctive for her more rounded lines, expecially on the superstructures, where the big windows provide more natural light in the saloon. From the design point of view, the coachroof windows shape is studied to recall the “S” of Salona, something that could be distinctive for new model as well, creating the family feeling so important from a marketing point of view.
Inside, two and three cabin versions layouts are available with queen sized double beds in all cabins. The saloon in both versions feature an L shaped gall and a U shaped sofa. Many innovative solutions are introduced such a folding chart table in the saloon which allows the option for one more berth.
The big double door opening on the bulkhead between saloon and forward cabin gives the feeling of an open space layout, and the feeling of ampleness is increased by the bright color of wood veneers.
The rig is something standard for our 37-38 ft with double sweptback spreaders aluminum mast, gunwhale shrouds and high aspect ratio non overlapping jibs; the Salona 38 is a relatively big boat if compared to our similar sized designs, therefore the sailplan is a bit taller and has an higher Jib halyard point to give extra power in light winds.
There are 3 keel options: the standard one is made of a cast iron fin with internal holes in the upper part to save weight and a lead bulb for a total draft of 2.05 m, a racing one, 2.25 m draft with lead/steel construction and a shallow draft version
